Live Blues With 10000 Pontiacs at Fat Matts Rib Shack in Atlanta March 31

  • Marc

Thrillist Top BBQ List: dig into some fall-off-the-bone ribs and moist BBQ chicken, all of which marries nicely with their well-balanced sauce. Try the ribs in sandwich - they still have the bones in.

  • Charles T.

Great ribs. The potato salad and Mac and cheese I think are the best sides. Very cool atmosphere. These guys stay open til the last minute. So you can walk in a few minutes before close and still eat.

The pulled pork sandwich is amazing and a lot of food. Carolina style sauce. Ribs are fall-off-the-bone. Mac & Cheese was delicious, had some pepper in it. The Brunswick stew wasn't all that great.

  • Tony X.

1/4 ribs + 1/4 chicken + New Brunswick Stew + Macaroni and Cheese = One phenomenal meal. I kicked the plate clean, went back to the register and got pecan pie. A meal never to forget. Ever.

  • Andrew L.

One of the best rib places i ever been to. Ribs are super "fall off the bone" with a strong charcoal/bbq flavor, and the sauce is spicy, sweet and vinegary. Good prices as well

  • Elizabeth C.

My new favorite BBQ place in Atlanta! Rum baked beans are sweet and savory and the pulled pork sandwich is to die for! And make sure you save some room for dessert-- the pies are amazing!

  • Sasha N. heart icon on user image

Always a pit stop to make when I come to ATL. I wish the sides were bigger But for the price you get wha you paid for. The ribs are always fall off the bone amazing!

  • Channae R. heart icon on user image

Ribs of course! You may see amine at the door but trust me it's worth the wait. Once you order your meals comes in less than 5 minutes. So good!

  • Jamye G. heart icon on user image

Love the people here! They are so nice. The line moves fast. My personal favorite is the chicken. My other half loves the ribs, green and potato salad.

  • Cheapism

It's call the "Rib Shack" for a reason. The meat falls off the bone like it should with any good bbq. Try the rum baked beans and the mac-n-cheese. Live blues nightly. Read more

  • Josh W.

You can get in many debates about best BBQ in ATL...(Fox Bros also A+), but nobody will dispute Fat Matt's quality. Ribs and chicken combo ++ many sides = great indulgence.

  • Scott C. heart icon on user image

BBQ is the best. Always get some when in that area of town. Parking is the biggest deterrent and there is usually a long queue, but it tends to move quickly.

  • Jonathan S.

I'm always skeptical any place with lots of hype but this was the real deal. I wasn't even hungry and went back for a second half slab after a 1/4 combo. Sweet potato pie was awesome!

  • Jon V. heart icon on user image

I love their BBQ and even though it hasn't changed in 30 years. The live music at night is always good to have as you dive into the ribs

  • Indio B. heart icon on user image

best ribs i've ever had... what a magical place... :) oh the rum baked beans were outstanding... should be declared and safeguarded as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage :)

  • Michelle K.

The long line went really fast!! Pulled pork is a little spicy and really delicious! The Mac and cheese and potato salad also very delicious sides!!

  • Suzanne G. heart icon on user image

Had ribs, mac&cheese and rum beans. Way too much food for what seemed like small portions-amazingly good. Place was packed with people and the line was out the door. Cool live jazz BBKing reminiscent

  • Carlton F. heart icon on user image

I've tried the chicken several times now and it's gotten dry and overcooked with each attempt at redemption. Focus more on quality and less on production. I plan on trying the ribs on upcoming visits.

  • William G.

Everything. Fullrack, beans and Matt's bbq sauce. It is my go to place for all things bbq.. and it will be that way till they close doors.

  • Annalise C. heart icon on user image

The one place I know where they have live blues every night. I love the ribs and BBQ pork sandwich. Must get the collards as a side.

  • William B.

Fat Matt's is great! They stay open until 11pm most nights. I usually sit out on the patio. It's great during the summer. You gotta try the lemonade!

  • Wayne H.

If you are stuck between the bird or the ribs, get the combo. Ask for white or dark meat (for birds), small or large end (for ribs). Collard green and mac n cheese are a must.

  • Toni M. heart icon on user image

My absolute favorite bbq place!!!!! The line is out the door most times I go but the ribs and lemonade is definitely worth the wait!!!!

  • Telonya T. heart icon on user image

Ribs and Chicken were moist, tender, and falling off the bone. Mac and collards were tasty as well. Great place to enjoy the Blues🎶

  • Perceptus heart icon on user image

Hole in the wall atmosphere with great BBQ. But what really blew me away was the Brunswick stew... the best I have ever had!

  • Jacquese B.

Not bad at all, definitely a hole in the wall. Funky/cool live music. Smoke flavor of the meat was great. Not too sure about the pie.. Over all not bad. I'd go again.

  • Atlanta Eats TV

Fat Matt's serves up all the things you want in great Q without the embellishments and gimmicks that other places use to draw customers. No, Fat Matt's does it by serving damn good food. Read more

The best ribs in Atlanta by far. People are great and it's super laid back. A must if you're in Atlanta.

  • Mark H. heart icon on user image

I like the pork sandwich. Comes with chips and drink. Their sandwich has the BBQ already mixed in with the meat.

  • John H.

Definitely the best ribs in Atlanta, and better than most places. Sauce has nice balance between tomato and vinegar, though a tiny bit sweet. Ribs were cooked well, and they leave the tips on.

  • Hannah L. heart icon on user image

Best ribs in ATL. And fun live blues. Boyfriend lives out of town and requests Fatt Matt's ribs every visit.

  • Samuil

If you don't care about sitting down to eat, order in advance over the phone and you can just walk up to the register and pick it up without having to wait in line with everybody else. It takes 5 min!

  • Alex F. heart icon on user image

Amazing BBQ, get the combo platter and it will not disappoint

  • Julie M.

Come for the food and stay to enjoy live blues. Everything is amazing here. Don't sleep on those ribs and chicken, y'all!

The Combo (1/4 ribs, 1/4 chicken) is a good choice for takeout. But make sure you get plenty of napkins!

  • Sean L. heart icon on user image

Great food and great music. The ribs are the best. Love the collard greens as well

  • ARthur B. heart icon on user image

Ribs were very good! Chicken was decent. Had rum baked beans (avg) and the mac n cheese (pretty good)

  • Rock Raines heart icon on user image

Rib sando does not come deboned FYI but that's ok bc it's effing delish. Rum baked beans were tasty too

  • Denise J.

Their ribs were hot, delicious, juicy and fallin' off the bone, finger licking delicious! Potatoe salad was good, beans & mac wasn't!!

  • Corey B.

The place is quite small but we had excellent customer service during our dinner here. Out of five stars, it'd get a four.

  • Ty L. heart icon on user image

Bar none..the best bbq in all of Atlanta. Those ribs are art!!!!! Rum baked beans are heaven.

  • Alexander D. heart icon on user image

Waiting was short. The potatoe salad was great. The Atmosphere was great, Ribs were VERY overcooked, contained a lot of cartilage, the noodles in the Mac'n cheese overcooked The chicken was very dry

  • Kellee K.

Check out the bathroom doors and notice the paintings on the doors! Freaking hilarious! And the band is good too! Always packed and awesome ribs!

  • Jannina I.

Amazing food! Try the beans, Mac and cheese and ribs!!!

  • Alex R. heart icon on user image

Combo plate. Collards are quite good as well. Tight parking situation, be ready to wait.

  • Crystal C.

The Blues Band is worth the visit on top of the good food! You will love it!

  • Amber W. heart icon on user image

I love it when complete strangers enter and leave exchanging awesome words about how amazing the food is. Good vibes Fat Matt's.
